Kristen Bell showed off her shiny new engagement ring on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards show last night. According to her publicist, Bell got engaged to her longtime boyfriend and When in Rome co-star, Dax Shepard, over the holidays. The stars, who both hail from Michigan, have been together for more than two years.

Bell, 29, best known for her roles in Veronica Mars and Heroes, has not consumed meat since the age of 11. She recently told Vegetarian Times magazine, “When I was little, I loved my dogs so much. Part of my becoming a vegetarian was that I would look at my burger, then look at my dogs, and I wasn’t able to see the difference.”

When Bell decided as a child to go the vegetarian route, her mother was very supportive and taught her to incorporate lots of colors into her meals to ensure she is getting the proper vitamins and minerals. The 5’1” actress still follows that same advice when she makes her favorite meal, Garbage Disposal Salad, which is a mix of greens, cucumbers, black beans, blueberries, grapes, and cashews.

Bell is also a passionate animal welfare advocate. She shares her home with three rescue dogs, a Corgi-Chow mix, a Corgi-Chihuahua mix, and a Labrador Retriever who was rescued from Hurricane Katrina.
